5/8 threads are rarely used elsewhere so this adaptor changes the 5/8 inch thread to the common 1/2inch thread that you will be able to use on a wide rage of plumbing fittings.This adaptor has female 5/8 on one side (so you can screw it onto keg couplers  or tap shanks and on the other side it has 1/2 inch.
